Is Anua Pregnancy-Safe? A Product-by-Product Guide

Edwina with the Anua Heartleaf 77% toner — is Anua pregnancy-safe

Is Anua pregnancy-safe? If there is one question mums ask us more than any other about a specific brand, it is this one — usually while holding the little heartleaf toner or the blue PDRN bottle they have seen everywhere. The short answer: most of the Anua range is considered pregnancy-friendly, and the core products we stock are among the gentlest options in K-beauty — but "the brand" is not the right unit to judge. Products are. Here is the bottle-by-bottle version.

General information, not medical advice. Every pregnancy is different, so please run any new product past your GP or midwife — that is not fine print, it is genuinely how we would do it ourselves.

The Anua products mums can feel good about

Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner — heartleaf (Houttuynia cordata) is a calming botanical with none of the pregnancy red flags. It is the first leave-on step in our Pregnancy-Safe Routine for a reason: it settles the redness and reactivity that pregnancy hormones love to stir up.

Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum — the famous blue bottle. Topical PDRN is not absorbed systemically, and hyaluronic acid is one of the safest hydrators there is. One honest flag that has nothing to do with pregnancy: PDRN is salmon-derived, so skip it if you have a fish allergy.

Anua PDRN Capsule Mist — same logic in spray form, lovely for the mid-afternoon slump.

The one to double-check

Anua Niacinamide 10% + TXA 4% Dark Spot Serum sits in the "generally considered low-risk, but ask your practitioner" category. Niacinamide and topical tranexamic acid are both regarded as gentle at cosmetic strengths — we have written a full guide on tranexamic acid in pregnancy — but because pregnancy pigmentation deserves a proper conversation with your GP anyway, fold the serum question into that chat.

How to check any Anua product yourself

The Anua range keeps growing, so here is the two-minute method for anything we have not covered: scan the ingredient list for retinoids (retinol, retinal, retinyl anything), salicylic acid above rinse-off levels, and hydroquinone. None of those appear in the core hydration and calming range. If the label is clean of those three families, you are very likely looking at a pregnancy-friendly formula — and our A-to-Z ingredient list covers everything else.

Questions mums ask

Anua is suddenly everywhere — is the hype real? The brand just signed Kendall Jenner as its first global ambassador, but honestly, Australian mums found it first. The formulas earned the attention before the celebrity did.

Can I use the heartleaf toner and PDRN serum together while pregnant? Yes — that pairing is literally the backbone of the routines we build for pregnancy. Toner first on damp skin, serum pressed in after.

What about while breastfeeding? The same logic applies: the calming and hydrating range is considered fine, retinoids stay benched until you have finished feeding.

The ready-made route

If you would rather skip the label-reading entirely, the Pregnancy-Safe Routine is the box we built for exactly this season — every ingredient checked, Anua heartleaf included, nothing on the do-not-use list. If your skin is more dull-and-tired than reactive, the 4-Minute Ritual is built around the Anua blue bottle itself (just note it is the full-glow version rather than the pregnancy-vetted box, so run it past your GP first). Or browse the whole pregnancy-safe edit.
