Can you do a Korean skincare routine while pregnant? Happily, yes. If you fell in love with K-beauty before you got pregnant, you do not have to give it up. Most of the Korean routine is gentle, hydration-led and pregnancy-friendly by nature. It was never built around the harsh actives you are meant to avoid. You just tweak a couple of steps.

The pregnancy-friendly K-beauty routine
- Cleanse. Double cleansing is fine. A cleansing oil to melt sunscreen, then a gentle low-pH foam. Nothing here is a problem.
- Tone. A hydrating, calming toner like Anua Heartleaf 77%, gentle and pregnancy-safe.
- Treat. This is the step to check. Swap any retinol serum for a PDRN hydration serum, or a niacinamide or vitamin C one, all pregnancy-friendly.
- Moisturise. A ceramide cream like Dr. Althea 345. No issue.
- SPF, every morning. Non-negotiable in pregnancy, when skin pigments more easily.
- Masks. Hydrating and soothing sheet masks are one of the safest pregnancy treats there is.

The one thing that changes: the treat step
Here is the whole adjustment in one sentence. The only real swap is at the treatment step, where you take out any retinol and put in a gentle hydrator, brightener or soothing serum instead. Your cleanse, tone, moisturise, mask and SPF steps carry on exactly as they were. It really is that small a change, which is why so many mums are relieved to learn they can keep the ritual they love.

What to skip
Only really the retinoids and strong acid peels. That is it. Everything else in a typical gentle K-beauty routine is exactly the kind of calm, barrier-loving, hydration-first care that pregnancy skin actively wants. If anything, a good K-beauty routine is better suited to pregnancy than a Western actives-heavy one.
Questions mums ask
Do I need all ten steps? No. Four to five steps is plenty, and honestly more realistic once the baby arrives. Cleanse, tone, treat, moisturise, SPF.
Are sheet masks safe in pregnancy? Hydrating and soothing ones, yes, and they are one of the nicest low-effort treats there is.
Can I keep my essence and toner? Almost certainly, as long as they are not built around retinol or strong acids. Check the label, or check with us.
The whole thing in one box
If you would rather not audit each product, our Pregnancy-Safe collection is a whole K-beauty shelf with the avoid-list already removed, and the Pregnancy-Safe Routine gives you every step above in one box.
