Is Skin1004 Pregnancy-Safe? The Centella Ampoule, Checked

Calming skincare with Skin1004 centella styled on travertine stone

Is Skin1004 pregnancy-safe? For the product we stock — the Madagascar Centella Ampoule — this is about as easy as the question gets: yes. It is essentially a single-ingredient formula built on centella asiatica, a calming botanical with no pregnancy flags at all. When your midwife hands you the do-not-use list, this is the kind of product left comfortably standing.

General information, not medical advice. Run new skincare past your GP or midwife, especially with a high-risk pregnancy.

Why simple formulas win in pregnancy

The fewer ingredients on a label, the fewer questions you have to ask — and the Skin1004 ampoule takes that to its logical extreme: centella extract, farmed in Madagascar, and very little else. Centella (also called cica) is the ingredient Korean dermatology reaches for when skin is red, stressed and overreacting — which describes a lot of pregnancy skin. We wrote a full explainer in what is centella? if you want the deep dive.

One ingredient, one job: telling stressed skin to stand down.

Where it fits in a pregnancy routine

The ampoule is the calm-down step: after cleansing and toning, a few drops pressed into damp skin, before your moisturiser. It is especially worth knowing about if pregnancy has made your skin reactive — the stinging-at-everything phase so many mums hit (we explain why everything suddenly stings). While the strong actives are benched, cica is one of the few ingredients that actively helps rebuild tolerance rather than just avoiding harm.

Questions mums ask

Is centella the same as cica? Yes — cica is the nickname. Centella asiatica, tiger grass, cica: one plant, three names, same calming job.

Can I layer it with niacinamide or PDRN while pregnant? Yes. Centella plays well with everything — that is half its charm. Thinnest layer first, and it slots before your treatment serum.

Will it help pregnancy breakouts? It calms the redness and irritation around breakouts, which visibly helps, but it is not an acne treatment. Our pregnancy breakouts guide covers the fuller picture.

The ready-made route

The centella ampoule is the heart of the Barrier Repair Set — the routine we built for skin that stings at everything: gentle cleanse, heartleaf calm, centella rescue, ceramide seal. If you want the fully pregnancy-vetted box instead, the Pregnancy-Safe Routine covers the same calm-first logic with every ingredient checked. Or browse the sensitive skin edit.
