What order do you apply Korean skincare? Every chart makes it look like flight training — ten steps, arrows everywhere. Here is the secret the charts hide: the entire system is one rule. Thinnest to thickest. Watery things first, creamy things last, and SPF on top in the morning. That is genuinely it. Everything else is detail, and here is the detail.
The rule, applied to a real routine
1. Cleanser — rinses off, so it goes first by definition. (Oil cleanser before foam on SPF days — double cleansing 101 explains when.)
2. Toner — the waterest of the leave-ons. Pat it onto damp skin with your hands; it is a hydration layer, not the astringent swab of the 90s.
3. Ampoule or serum — your treatment step, the most active thing in the routine, applied to skin that the toner has left slightly damp and receptive. If you use two, thinner texture first.
4. Moisturiser — the seal. Its whole job is trapping everything underneath so it keeps working instead of evaporating by lunchtime.
5. Morning only: SPF. Always last, always every day — non-negotiable under Australian sun.

The exceptions actually worth knowing
Sheet masks and overnight masks slot in after serum, replacing (or sitting over) the moisturiser step that night. Eye patches go on clean, toned skin before serum, so the essence sits directly on the under-eye. Mists are wildcards — anytime, even over makeup. And if you only have four minutes, the four core steps above are the whole routine; that is not a compromise, it is our entire philosophy, laid out in the 4-minute routine.
The mistakes that actually cost you
Applying serum to bone-dry skin (it absorbs measurably better on damp); rubbing instead of pressing (friction on a stressed barrier); skipping moisturiser because your serum feels like enough (unsealed actives evaporate); and the big one — buying more steps instead of doing four steps consistently. Consistency beats complexity every single time, especially on postpartum skin.

Questions mums ask
Where does vitamin C go? It is a serum — step three, usually mornings, under SPF.
Toner and essence and ampoule — do I need all three? No. They are points on the same watery-to-treatment spectrum. One toner and one serum covers the territory.
How long between layers? Thirty seconds to a minute is plenty — about the time it takes to brush your teeth between steps.
