PDRN stands for Polydeoxyribonucleotide — small chains of DNA fragments derived from salmon (because the DNA structure closely resembles human DNA). In aesthetic medicine, it's used as a "skin booster" to stimulate fibroblast activity, the cells that produce collagen and elastin. Korean clinics inject it for fine lines, skin healing, and post-procedure recovery. The topical form delivers a fraction of the dose, daily, instead of one bigger dose monthly.

No — PDRN is derived from salmon DNA, so this product isn't vegan. The salmon used is a byproduct of the food industry, but if vegan is non-negotiable, email me and I'll match you with a non-PDRN hydration mist that delivers similar results.

If you have a known fish or shellfish allergy, don't use this. Even though PDRN is highly purified, trace proteins can remain. Patch-test on the inside of your wrist for 24 hours before applying to your face if you're not sure. Email me for a fish-free alternative.

Both are great products doing different jobs. Avène is mineral water in a can — refreshing, calming, no active. Vichy Mineral 89 is a serum (different format, has HA but no PDRN). This is the only one of the three with PDRN as an active, in mist format you can use over makeup. Many of our customers use Avène for quick refreshes and this for the active dose.
